Brian Afton: some of the places I have been and jobs I have worked on:  Work Summary Pg 4

In addition of machine repair, including a lot of hands on work with maintenance crews during shutdowns, I also did a lot of structural work at the Nitrogen Complex.  This tower unloads railroad tank cars.

From my days as a pirate at the old Agway Nitrogen Complex.   It was often impossible to get replacement parts for pumps, compressors, turbines and other machinery in a timely manner.  Since the alternative was to shut the plant down waiting 26 weeks for the supplier I often ended up reverse engineering parts.  This machinery was seldom located in nice places and much of it was German, metric etc.

.

I designed this supermarket in Allegany, shown here before its completion.  It is presently a Dollar store.

One of the boats I have built.  It sets low in the water because if was intended for skin diving.  It has two sails, twin electric motors, and out preformed boats costing many thousands of dollars.

People forget that there was a way of doing things 400 years ago which is often superior to what we do now.

I can weld, run most shop equipment, and have been known to forge steel by hand.

I hand forged the dies for this semi automatic forming tool.  Except for the dies and the pneumatic hose it was made from scrap parts and saved thousands of dollars. It was used in production work thereafter.
